Michael van Gerwen has revealed that his performance against Steve Beaton on Thursday night has provided him with extra belief as he looks to win the Grand Slam of Darts for the first time.
The PDC world number one averaged over 109 on the way to a 10-2 victory, which has seen him move three matches away from completing the set of PDC major tournaments.
The 26-year-old told PDC.TV: "I'm really happy because I played well. I'm playing fantastic darts and Thursday night was perfect, I hit my finishes at the right moments.
"I hope I can keep this performance going but this is a tournament I've never won before so I've got a huge couple of games ahead.
"I know I can keep this going and I only have one goal in this tournament - to win."
The Dutchman will face Kim Huybrechts in the quarter-finals on Saturday night.
