Raymond van Barneveld has taken advantage of a below-par display from Phil Taylor to run out a 7-2 winner in Sheffield.
The defending champion, who also saw off Taylor in Glasgow three weeks ago, was never troubled by the Stoke-on-Trent thrower, who averaged below 87.
Michael van Gerwen has remained at the top of the standings after winning the final three legs in his 7-5 victory over Stephen Bunting.
However, it was Dave Chisnall who produced the stand-out displays of the evening, with the St Helens thrower defeating Gary Anderson 7-2 before averaging 114.17 in a 7-1 triumph over James Wade.
Earlier in the evening, Wade had suffered a 7-4 defeat to Adrian Lewis, who has improved to sixth place in the table.
