Theo Walcott delighted with season finale

Theo Walcott is overjoyed to see Arsenal finish a place ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fourth in the Premier League.

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has expressed his delight with his side's fourth-place finish in the Premier League this season.

The Gunners won 1-0 at Newcastle United in their final game of the campaign on Sunday to finish a point and a place ahead of Tottenham Hotspur.

"We weren't aware of the Spurs result and we knew what we had to do, it was in our hands and we did the job," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"We had to prove people wrong. We had a disappointing result against Tottenham earlier this season and it's never nice to lose to them.

"A lot of people thought we wouldn't do it today so it's nice to show them that we could do it."

Arsenal will have to get through the qualifying rounds to play in next season's Champions League group stage.
