Arsenal reportedly hold an interest in Borussia Monchengladbach's Denis Zakaria and are willing to send Granit Xhaka in the opposite direction this summer.

Arsenal retain an interest in Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, according to a report.

Mikel Arteta is thought to be planning a mass summer overhaul as the Gunners prepare for a season without European football, and a new centre-midfield partner for Thomas Partey is thought to be on the Spaniard's wishlist.

Arsenal will be waving goodbye to Dani Ceballos as he prepares to head back to Real Madrid, but they are understood to be at the head of the queue for Brighton & Hove Albion's Yves Bissouma.

Now, 90Min reports that Zakaria has signalled his intention to leave the Bundesliga this summer, and Arsenal are on red alert.

The report adds that the Switzerland international would be available for a reasonable price as his deal expires next summer, and a part-exchange deal with former Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka has also been put forward.

Zakaria has struggled with injuries during the 2020-21 season, starting 14 Bundesliga matches and registering one goal and one assist in top-flight action.
