Atletico Madrid's new stadium to be named Wanda Metropolitano

Atletico Madrid announce that the club's new stadium will be called Wanda Metropolitano.

Atletico Madrid have announced that the club's new stadium will be named Wanda Metropolitano.

The 67,000-capacity structure, which will become Atletico's home in August 2017, will be sponsored by Chinese property company Dalian Wanda Group.

The company have been sponsoring the club's training ground since 2015 when they bought a 20% stake in the La Liga outfit.

In a press conference on Friday, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo said: "I am honoured to say we have reached an agreement with Wanda to name our new stadium. They are the best partners on our journey to keep working for a better future."

As well as the Chinese company sponsoring the stadium, the club will also make a reference to Atletico's first ground, the Metropolitano, where they were situated before moving to the Vicente Calderon in 1966.
