Stefan Savic has admitted that it did not take him long to decide to make the move to Atletico Madrid this summer.
The Montenegro centre-back recently signed a long-term deal with the Spanish outfit after leaving Fiorentina.
Savic is expected to start the new season at centre-back alongside Diego Godin, and the 24-year-old is confident that he will produce for Diego Simeone's side.
"Atletico is a great club and I'm very happy to wear this shirt. I'll work hard and I hope the new season is good for everyone," Savic has been quoted by AS.
"All great teams have a lot of competition. I think I'm ready and I will have an important role. I'm Stefan Savic and I'm here to defend the Atleti colours. The main factor for coming here was the project I've spoken to the club members about. It's a step forward for me to play in the Champions League, where Atleti played a good role last season.
"My aerial game is a big point in my favour but I'm still young. I'm 24 and I can still improve a lot. I've gained experience from England and Italy and I hope to show it. I spoke with [Simeone] before coming here. He's one of the reasons I came. I think we'll have a very good season."
Savic's transfer to Atletico saw Mario Suarez move in the opposite direction.
