Lee Carsley to remain in charge of Brentford against Bolton Wanderers

Lee Carsley will remain in charge of Brentford for Monday's trip to Bolton Wanderers.

Brentford have confirmed that Lee Carsley will remain in charge of the side for Monday's meeting with Bolton Wanderers.

Carsley claimed last weekend that he would return to his role with the development squad after guiding the Bees to a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

Brentford were rumoured to be close to appointing Swansea City assistant manager Pep Clotet, but with no permanent successor to Marinus Dijkhuizen in place, Carsley will lead the team once again.

"In Lee's last post-match press conference he discussed the possibility that the Nottingham Forest game would be his last in charge," co-director of football Phil Giles told the club's website.

"This was the expectation of both Rasmus Ankersen (fellow co-director) and myself. Lee's comments were made in good faith based on the conversations we held last week.

"Circumstances this week have meant that we haven't been able to make the change as originally anticipated. We will continue with our process to find the right long-term head coach for Brentford, rather than make a hasty appointment."

Brentford currently sit 11th in the Championship.
