Bristol City have sacked manager Derek McInnes following Saturday's 4-0 defeat to Leicester City in the Championship.
The loss has left the Robins at the bottom of the table and five points from safety.
McInnes took charge at Ashton Gate in October 2011 following a four-year spell at St Johnstone and he guided the club to a 20th-placed finish last season.
"This is a decision we felt we had to make for the good of the football club," City managing director Jon Lansdown said in a statement.
"Derek has been a pleasure to work with; he's disappointed but he understands the decision.
"We want to give ourselves the best possible chance of getting out of the situation we are currently in and we've got 20 games to do that."
McInnes's assistant Tony Docherty will take first-team training on Monday.
