Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho content with Diego Costa fitness

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says that Diego Costa is "happy" with his fitness after playing 90 minutes of the Blues' opening-day draw with Swansea City.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he expected Diego Costa not to last 90 minutes against Swansea City, but is content with the striker's fitness.

The Spain international was dogged by injuries during pre-season, but he made it to the final whistle in Saturday's 2-2 draw with the Swans.

"He did very well, and again the second half is very difficult because it was a big difference, one player less and a lot of effort and even so I was not expecting him to resist for 90 minutes," Mourinho told reporters.

"It was very important and new for us that he played for 90 minutes with such a physical performance. He is happy with the reaction. He is okay, happy, he is very happy and with the reaction with his body after such a hard game."

Chelsea went down to 10 men at Stamford Bridge when goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was sent off for bringing down Bafetimbi Gomis.
