Branislav Ivanovic demands Arsenal win

Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic urges the Blues to beat Arsenal and then focus on rebuilding their season following a stuttering start.

Branislav Ivanovic has told out-of-form Chelsea to beat Arsenal next Saturday and kick-start their Premier League season.

The champions suffered a third defeat in five games on Saturday after going down 3-1 at Everton to confirm their worst start to a league campaign for 29 years.

The Blues now sit 11 points behind top-of-the-table Manchester City, and boss Jose Mourinho later admitted that he did not know if a title defence was still realistic.

"Of course, Arsenal is massive. It is always very, very hard against Arsenal but we have to look at ourselves," Ivanovic is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"We have to believe one thing – the next game. We cannot think about catching other teams we just have to win game-by-game. We must not think about anything else."

The Gunners beat their London rivals 1-0 at Wembley in August to clinch the Community Shield and Arsene Wenger's first win over Mourinho in the process.

Chelsea sit 17th in the table.
