Ray Wilkins has said that Pep Guardiola could be the man to rebuild Chelsea.
Guardiola confirmed his departure from Barcelona this afternoon and spoke of his intention to take a break from football to rest and rejuvenate.
Former Chelsea assistant manager Wilkins said that the Spaniard's accomplishments at the Nou Camp are second to none and he could now do the same at Stamford Bridge.
"I think he is an exceptional coach," Wilkins told talkSPORT. "I think the way he has got these guys playing is something special and we should not forget that.
"I think at Barcelona he has got a free run at everything. Mr Abramovich will want things done his way and whether Pep is prepared to do that I have no idea, but it would certainly be a rebuilding programme.
"We saw him give it to Andre Villas-Boas probably a little bit too early in his managerial career but if anybody could come in and do it, who has worked with young players, who has worked with reserve teams, it is Guardiola."
Wilkins was sacked as the Blues' assistant manager in January 2011.
