Barcelona are confident about their chances of landing soon-to-be free agent Cesar Azpilicueta on a free transfer from Chelsea, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly growing increasingly confident about their chances of landing Cesar Azpilicueta on a free transfer from Chelsea.

The 32-year-old has entered the final six months of his deal with the European champions and is free to enter negotiations with foreign clubs over a pre-contract agreement.

Azpilicueta's situation has reportedly attracted the attention of Barcelona, although a recent report claimed that the Spain international was still keen to remain at Chelsea if a deal could be struck.

However, Goal reports that Azpilicueta and Chelsea are now 'at odds' over a new deal, and Barcelona are confident of securing his signature for the 2022-23 season.

The report adds that Barcelona would be willing to offer him more than the one-year renewal on the table from Chelsea, and Xavi is pushing hard to get a transfer over the line.

Azpilicueta has registered 14 goals and 56 assists in 456 games for Chelsea in all competitions since arriving from Marseille in 2012, winning two Premier Leagues, the Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League at Stamford Bridge.
