Chelsea were reportedly prepared to table an £85m offer for the signature of Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos this summer.
The Brazil international has continued to flourish in the French capital since Thomas Tuchel's departure and was handed the captain's armband when Thiago Silva left for Chelsea.
Marquinhos extended his deal with PSG until 2024 just last year, but Tuchel was supposedly keen to reunite with his former player in the English capital for the 2021-22 season.
According to RMC Sport, Chelsea were willing to fork out £85m to secure Marquinhos's services, with the Blues frustrated in their pursuit of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
However, the report adds that Marquinhos remains happy in the French capital, and neither he nor PSG would have accepted the proposed offer from the Champions League winners.
The 27-year-old - a Copa America winner with Brazil this summer - boasts 31 goals from 327 games in a PSG shirt, claiming six Ligue 1 titles since his arrival from Roma in 2013.
