Roy Hodgson: 'Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should be fit for World Cup campaign'

England boss Roy Hodgson expects Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be fit to play in the World Cup after making a strong recovery from a knee injury.

England boss Roy Hodgson has expressed his belief that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be fit to play in his side's World Cup campaign.

The 20-year-old's participation in the tournament was thrown into doubt when he sustained a knee injury in the Three Lions' 2-2 draw with Ecuador on Wednesday.

However, Hodgson believes that the Arsenal man will be able to feature for England after making a quick recovery.

He told ITV Sport: "Everyone is fit. Oxlade-Chamberlain is making good progress. I think he'll make the tournament without a shadow of a doubt."

England will begin their World Cup campaign against Italy next week.
