Roberto Martinez to 'take time' over Nikica Jelavic replacement

Roberto Martinez says that he is happy to wait for the right player and doesn't want to rush into a decision.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has admitted that he wants to sign a new striker, but insists that the club will take their time with any prospective deal.

Earlier this week Nikica Jelavic completed a move to Hull City, but Martinez insists that the Toffees are prepared to play the waiting game to ensure that they acquire the right player.

"We are going to take our time but yes, my focus is to bring another attacking option that can help what we have got," Martinez told The Mirror.

"In January, it is not easy. You need to get many things together and what seems impossible one day, there can be an opportunity the day after.

"Normally it goes down to the final day of the window and I think it is going to be the case this time. I am quite happy to wait for the right person. I don't want to bring in a player just for the sake of it."

Romelu Lukaku and Arouna Kone are the only recognised strikers at Goodison Park.
