Ipswich Town goalkeeper Arijanet Muric is back in England after being sent home early from international duty with Kosovo for breaking team rules.

Ipswich Town goalkeeper Arijanet Muric has been sent home from international duty with Kosovo due to a breach of team rules.

The 25-year-old spent the 2023-24 term at Turf Moor, where Burnley were unsuccessful in their attempts to avoid an immediate relegation to the Championship.

Despite helping the Clarets reach the Premier League as second-tier winners in 2022-23, Muric lost his place to James Trafford in net last season for the majority of the campaign.

However, after England youth international Trafford endured a few poor performances, the Kosovan was drafted into Vincent Kompany's side for the final 10 matches of the league term.

Since Burnley's relegation, Muric has secured an £8m move to Premier League newcomers Ipswich, who are aiming to survive in the top flight under Kieran McKenna.

Ipswich's Muric breaks team rules on international duty

Muric has spent the international break on duty with his national side Kosovo, who are competing to earn promotion from UEFA Nations League C before the end of the calendar year.

However, the shot-stopper has been sent back to East Anglia earlier after he reportedly broke team rules by staying out at a bar past a curfew.

Kosovo confirmed in a statement: "Arjanet Muric, Edon Zhegrova and Florent Muslija, have left the national team gathering due to breaking the regulations of the national team established by the manager and the federation."

Ipswich 'keeper Muric has recently responded stating: "The decision for us was not fair at all and the rumours that are circulating are not true at all."

It is currently unclear whether there will be further punishment for Muric and his teammates, potentially a ban from linking up with the squad during the October international break or a fine.

With Muric being banished from the Kosovo squad, he will be unable to feature as his nation travel to Cyprus in Nations League C on Monday evening.

As a result, the 25-year-old will have nearly a week to prepare for Ipswich's Premier League trip to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Muric was recognised for his good performances recently, earning a nomination for August's Save of the Month award after keeping out a close-range Erling Haaland header.
