Manchester City are reportedly already considering handing Erling Braut Haaland an improved contract at the end of the season following his prolific start to the campaign.

Manchester City are reportedly already considering handing Erling Braut Haaland an improved contract at the end of this season.

Haaland only made the move to the Etihad Stadium this summer, but he has made a record-breaking start to life at the club with 14 goals in just 10 appearances across all competitions.

The 22-year-old has made the most prolific start to a Premier League career ever with 11 goals in his seven top-flight outings so far, putting him firmly on course to break Mohamed Salah's record 32-goal tally for a 38-game season.

Man City won a competitive race for Haaland's signature this year, with the striker's contract understood to be worth £375,000 per week.

The lucrative deal already makes him the club's joint-highest earner alongside Kevin De Bruyne, but the Daily Star claims that Man City are considering offering him a wage increase if he maintains his form.

Haaland's current contract is also understood to include a €200m (£175.8m) release clause which can be triggered in 2024, or a €175m (£153.8m) one which can be triggered in 2025, providing certain minimum sporting objectives have been achieved by that stage.

Any new deal is likely to keep those clauses, with Haaland's father Alf-Inge Haaland recently revealing that his son is keen to test himself in all of Europe's top leagues.

City have often rewarded players for a successful debut season at the club in the past, with the likes of Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Aymeric Laporte and Ederson all previously being handed pay rises at the end of their maiden campaigns.

Haaland's goalscoring exploits could see him follow in their footsteps with a bumper new deal, or alternatively the report claims that Man City could explore the possibility of boosting his package of add-ons and bonuses.

The Norway international has only failed to score in one Premier League game so far this season, breaking numerous records along the way to his 11-goal haul.

Haaland already has back-to-back hat-tricks to his name in the English top flight, and could become the first player to ever score hat-tricks in three successive Premier League home games this weekend.

Man City welcome local rivals Manchester United to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday for Haaland's first taste of the Manchester derby.

The champions are looking to keep pace with early leaders Arsenal, whose own derby triumph over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday took them four points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

That result does mean that Pep Guardiola's men are the only remaining unbeaten team in the division this season, though, and victory over Man United on Sunday would take them eight points clear of Erik ten Hag's side.

Man City have won their last three games across all competitions, while Man United go into the match off the back of four successive Premier League victories.
