Javier Hernandez ruled out for four weeks, will miss Mexico's Gold Cup campaign

Javier Hernandez will miss Mexico's Gold Cup campaign after being ruled out for four weeks with a fractured collarbone.

Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez will play no part in Mexico's Gold Cup campaign after he was ruled out for a month with a fractured collarbone.

The 27-year-old sought treatment in hospital after he landed on his right shoulder when pushed by Honduras's Brayan Beckeles during a Gold Cup warm-up match in Houston.

The forward was substituted in the 40th minute of the goalless draw immediately after the incident on Wednesday.

It has now been confirmed by Mexico's team doctor Gerardo Aguilar that Hernandez could be on the treatment table for up to four weeks.

"The fracture of the right collarbone has been confirmed clinically," ESPN quotes Aguilar as saying. "He's being re-evaluated in hospital to confirm what we observed in a radiological study. [He'll be out] for three to four weeks minimum."

Hernandez's future at United remains uncertain as he spent last season on loan at Real Madrid and has been linked to the Red Devils' arch rivals Liverpool.
