A report claims that Eric Bailly openly questioned why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer selected Harry Maguire over him for Manchester United's recent defeat to Leicester City.

Manchester United's Eric Bailly openly called out Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over his decision to throw Harry Maguire straight back into the starting lineup after his return from injury, according to a report.

Maguire was withdrawn in the defeat to Aston Villa with a calf problem last month and was expected to spend more time on the sidelines before playing the full 90 minutes against former club Leicester City, conceding four goals in the process.

The 28-year-old was also selected to start against Liverpool but endured a nightmarish afternoon during a 5-0 humiliation, while a fully-fit Bailly is yet to play a single minute in the Premier League this term.

According to The Telegraph, Bailly questioned why Solskjaer selected Maguire for the defeat at the King Power Stadium, while concerns have also been raised over Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek's lack of minutes.

The report adds that some players believe 'favouritism' plays a part in Solskjaer's team selections, with squad members left bemused with Lingard and Van de Beek's struggles to get into the XI despite the duo impressing in training.

Despite steering his side to just one point from their last four Premier League games, Solskjaer is supposedly set to remain in charge for the time being amid links with Antonio Conte and Erik ten Hag.
