Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling and Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois are among a six-man shortlist for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.

At 20 years of age, Sterling has stormed into the first team under Reds manager Brendan Rodgers, but his long-term future remains uncertain as he has decided to delay contract talks until the summer.

Meanwhile, Courtois has made the shortlist during an impressive first season at Stamford Bridge, where he has ousted experienced goalkeeper Petr Cech to the substitutes' bench.

Sterling and Courtois are the only two players on the list who have not also been nominated for the PFA Player's Player of the Year.

Playmakers Eden Hazard and Philippe Coutinho, who ply their trades at Chelsea and Liverpool respectively, are in contention for both the young and senior awards.

The same applies to Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea and Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, who is the second Englishman in the shortlist.
