Chelsea have reportedly begun negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen over a potential summer deal for German attacker Kai Havertz.
The 20-year-old has been in impressive form for Leverkusen during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring 16 times and registering nine assists in 41 appearances.
A number of clubs, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, have been credited with an interest in the Germany international ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
However, according to The Athletic, Chelsea are at the head of the queue and have recently opened talks with Leverkusen over a proposed transfer.
The report, though, claims that Havertz's £90m price tag could prove problematic for Frank Lampard's side, who have already tied up a deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.
The attacker, who has a contract at BayArena until June 2022, has scored seven times in his eight Bundesliga appearances for Die Werkself.
