Manchester United are reportedly in advanced talks with former Paris Saint-Germain chief Antero Henrique as they look to appoint a sporting director.

Manchester United have reportedly made progress in their efforts to bring in a sporting director at Old Trafford.

Despite spending significant funds in the transfer market, United have been criticised for some of the additions which they have made in recent years.

With United fans being fearful of falling further behind the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City, there have been prolonged calls for a sporting director to be introduced behind the scenes.

According to Foot Mercato, the club's hierarchy are close to agreeing terms with Antero Henrique, who most recently occupied the same role at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 51-year-old was involved in the signings of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar during his first summer at the Parc des Princes.

Henrique earned his chance with the French giants after a successful spell with Porto in his homeland.
