Manchester United are reportedly willing to let their chase for Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld go right down to the wire.
The Lilywhites are believed to be holding out for at least £55m for the centre-back, who is one of two targets on Jose Mourinho's defensive wishlist along with Leicester City's Harry Maguire.
A move has yet to go through because of Tottenham's hardline stance and, according to The Telegraph, there has been no movement in talks between the two clubs.
Spurs would supposedly be open to accepting Anthony Martial as part of any deal, but the Red Devils are reluctant to offload to one of their closest rivals.
Alderweireld's desire to leave North London could work in United's favour, however, with the report suggesting that Tottenham may blink first in the drawn-out negotiations.
With Leicester also holding out for a record £75m for Maguire, Mourinho is said to be tempted to instead move for Inter Milan ace Milan Skriniar.
