Montpellier HSC striker Olivier Giroud has admitted that he wanted to complete "three laps of honour" after scoring in France's 2-1 win over Germany on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old has struck 16 goals in Ligue 1 this season, moving him to the top of the scoring charts, and he has stated that he is 'savouring' the moment.
"I'll take a lot of positives from tonight's match. It was my first start, my first goal, and we won away to Germany, who are ranked second on FIFA's list. I'll savour it in the days to come," Giroud told reporters.
"After I scored all I wanted to do was three laps of honour, but I kept cool."
Giroud joined Montpellier from Tours in 2010.
