Peter Murphy given all-clear to continue knee rehabilitation

Morecambe confirm that Peter Murphy has been absent due to a blood clot on his lung, but the summer signing is now able to focus on recovering from a knee injury.

Morecambe skipper Peter Murphy has recovered from a blood clot on his lung and is now free to continue his injury rehabilitation.

The 25-year-old was initially ruled out of action for around three months after sustaining a cruciate ligament tear in his right knee, which led to him suffering a double pulmonary artery blockage in his lungs.

Murphy is now scheduled to see a haematologist at the end of the month for further assessment, where it is hoped that a date will be given for training to resume.

Speaking to the club's official website, Morecambe boss Jim Bentley said: "I made Peter my captain for all of the qualities he will now need as he works to get himself back to full fitness following such a horrendous setback.

"It is great to have him back around the club on a daily basis so we can all support him as he continues his rehab with the MFC medical staff and specialists."

Murphy signed a two-year deal with the Shrimps during the summer following his release from Wycombe Wanderers.
