Newcastle United could sign Paco Alcacer on loan from Borussia Dortmund before the end of the month, according to a report.

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is reportedly hopeful of signing Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer before the January transfer window closes for business.

The 26-year-old has scored seven times in 15 appearances for BVB this term but has only played 10 minutes of Bundesliga football since the end of November.

Alcacer is allegedly free to leave Dortmund this month following Erling Braut Haaland's arrival, and Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with an interest in the Spain international.

However, according to The Sun, Newcastle are in the hunt for the forward, who could join the Premier League club on loan for the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign.

The report claims that the Magpies could agree to sign Alcacer - also thought to be interesting former club Valencia - for £25m in this summer's transfer window.

The Spaniard has scored 26 times in 47 appearances for his German side in all competitions.
