Former Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish says that he is ready to return to management and is open to jobs in the Premier League and the Championship.

Former Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has revealed that he is itching to return to management and has insisted that he is open to working in both the Premier League and the Championship.

The Scotsman has been out of work since getting sacked from Villa Park in the summer due to finishing just two points away from the relegation zone in the table last season.

"The Premier League is the place to be but don't get me wrong there are some tremendous clubs in the Championship that have a real ambition to get promoted that would be very interesting," McLeish told Yahoo.

"It's not every day that you will get your perfect project and very often there is challenge in it somewhere. There are lots of clubs that would interest me and it would be great to walk back into a Barclays Premier League club but I know that its difficult as opportunities are few and far between as there are lots of very good coaches."

The 53-year-old recently claimed that he was not considering a return to the Scotland national team, who are currently in the hunt for a new coach.
