Italian midfielder Marco Verratti is reportedly set to sign a new long-term contract with Paris Saint-Germain worth £11m per year.

Marco Verratti is reportedly closing in on a new long-term contract with Paris Saint-Germain which will see the midfielder double his salary to £11m per year.

The 26-year-old has made 282 appearances for PSG since joining the French champions from Italian side Pescara ahead of the 2012-13 campaign.

A number of clubs have been linked with potential moves for the Italy international in recent seasons, with sides from the Premier League and La Liga said to be long-term admirers.

However, according to Calciomercato, Verratti is set to sign a new long-term deal until the summer of 2024, while the contract will see his current wages double to £11m per year.

The report also claims that the midfielder has been promised the captain's armband from next season, with Thiago Silva due to leave on a free transfer in June 2020.

Verratti has won six Ligue 1 titles during his time with the capital giants.
