A Scottish Football League members' vote has ruled that Rangers will play in the SFL Division Three.
In a vote involving 30 SFL clubs this afternoon, a total of 25 members voted that Rangers should play in the third tier for the new campaign.
SFL chief executive David Longmuir revealed the news in a press conference today.
He said: "Our only acceptable decision is to place Rangers into our third division from the start of the season.
"I'm comfortable that this decision has been taken with sporting fairness at the forefront."
Rangers newco can now finally begin to rebuild under the leadership of Charles Green and Ally McCoist after a turbulent summer in Glasgow.
