Former Rangers and Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness has denied any involvement with Charles Green's proposed takeover at Ibrox.
The former Sheffield United chief executive agreed a deal with the Gers' administrators to buy the Glasgow-based club on Sunday.
While Green mentioned Souness's name to the media, the ex-Blackburn Rovers manager has claimed that he was only interested in joining up with Sale Sharks' owner Brian Kennedy.
"I certainly met Charles and he ran past me what his intentions were," Souness told talkSPORT. "But I've known Brian Kennedy for a long time, we are from the same part of Edinburgh, more or less, and I was very happy to get involved with someone I knew the strength of and completely understood where it was going.
"Anything other than that, it just wouldn't be for me. Glasgow Rangers is a unique football club and like any other supporter, I am deeply concerned with where it's going and what is going to happen to it."
Green will attempt to bring Rangers out of administration by July through a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA).
