Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Alcoyano

Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's Copa del Rey clash with Alcoyano.

Real Madrid will be looking to book their spot in the last-16 stage of the Copa del Rey when they take on third-tier side Alcoyano on January 20.

Zinedine Zidane's side were beaten 2-1 by Athletic Bilbao in the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup on Thursday night, meaning that they have missed out on the chance to face Barcelona in Sunday's final.

Los Blancos also drew their last La Liga match 0-0 with struggling Osasuna but will be the overwhelming favourites to triumph in this game.

Here, Sports Mole runs through all of Madrid's injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Alcoyano, who play their football in Segunda Division B.

Rodrygo Goes

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Rodrygo Goes had to be stretchered off the field against Granada on December 23 after picking up a thigh problem, and the Brazilian is now facing an extended period on the sidelines, possibly as long as three months.

Raphael Varane

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: January 20 (vs. Alcoyano)

Raphael Varane had to be substituted at the interval of Thursday's clash with Athletic, and the France international has therefore emerged as a doubt for next week's contest, although it is unlikely that he will be involved regardless of his fitness with Zidane expected to make wholesale changes.

Sergio Ramos

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: January 20 (vs. Alcoyano)

Sergio Ramos did not complete the warm up ahead of the clash with Athletic, having picked up a knee issue. The club captain surprisingly started the semi-final and went on to play the full match, but it is understood that he spent the majority of the game in discomfort.

REAL MADRID'S SUSPENSION LIST

Madrid have no players suspended for the Copa del Rey contest.
