Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale has reportedly decided to hang up his boots at club level next year.
The Wales international is back at the Bernabeu following a largely successful 2020-21 campaign on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, during which he bagged 16 goals and three assists from 34 appearances in all competitions.
Bale endured a frosty relationship with Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, but Carlo Ancelotti has opened the door for the 31-year-old to play an important role for Los Blancos next term.
With his contract due to expire in the summer of 2022, he has been linked with a move to MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy, but The Mirror claims that Bale has told his friends he is planning to retire from club football after next season.
However, should Wales manage to qualify for the Qatar World Cup, the report adds that Bale is still open to more international exploits with the Dragons.
The winger provided two assists at Euro 2020 as Wales were sent packing by Denmark in the last-16 stage, and he boasts a total of 105 goals and 68 assists in 251 appearances for Real Madrid.
