La Liga giants Real Madrid are reportedly considering making a move for Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres.
The Spaniard has developed into a star player for the Yellow Submarine in the last few years and has recently seen his stock rise since making his international debut in November.
Goal reports that Los Blancos are pondering a move for the 24-year-old and see him as a great candidate to fill the shoes of club legend Sergio Ramos, who is considering leaving the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season, when his current deal expires.
Torres is currently valued at around £57m by Villarreal, however Madrid are hopeful that a strong relationship between the two clubs may see them able to negotiate for a lower asking price.
Villarreal want to keep hold of the defender, who has a contract that runs until 2024, as they see him as an integral part of their plans to qualify for Europe.
Any potential deal to bring Torres to Madrid would have no impact on their pursuit of Bayern Munich's David Alaba, who has been heavily linked to the Spanish giants and is to leave the German champions at the end of this campaign.
Torres has started all 23 La Liga matches for Villarreal this season, although he has only featured once in the group stages of the Europa League.
