Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is named on the substitutes' bench for this evening's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne has been named on the substitutes' bench for this evening's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola confirmed on Wednesday that the 31-year-old would be available for selection after missing training on Tuesday due to personal reasons, but the Belgian has not been selected to start.

De Bruyne is one of five changes made to City's starting lineup following last weekend's 2-1 defeat to rivals Manchester United, with John Stones, Rico Lewis, Ilkay Gundogan, Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez all brought into the side.

Stones has recovered from a fitness issue to begin at centre-back alongside Manuel Akanji, while Lewis and Nathan Ake will operate at full-back; Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo both drop to the bench.

In midfield, Grealish is set to take up one of three centre-midfield spots along with captain Gundogan and Rodri, while Alvarez will join Riyad Mahrez and top scorer Erling Braut Haaland in attack.

Ruben Dias has been selected in the matchday squad for the first time since sustaining a hamstring injury at the World Cup with Portugal, and he is joined on the bench by the likes of Phil Foden, Kalvin Phillips and Bernardo Silva.

As for Spurs, Antonio Conte has made four changes to the side that lost 2-0 to Arsenal in the North London derby on Sunday, with Emerson Royal, Ben Davies, Ivan Perisic and Rodrigo Bentancur all returning to the first XI.

Harry Kane, who scored a brace in a 3-2 win for Spurs at the Etihad last season, is joined in attack by Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.

Manchester City starting lineup: Ederson; Lewis, Stones, Akanji, Ake; Gundogan, Rodri, Grealish; Mahrez, Haaland, Alvarez

Subs: Ortega, Walker, Cancelo, Dias, Laporte, Phillips, De Bruyne, Foden, Bernardo

Tottenham Hotspur starting lineup: Lloris; Romero, Dier, Davies; Emerson, Hojbjerg, Bentancur, Perisic; Kulusevski, Son; Kane

Subs: Forster, Doherty, Sanchez, Tanganga, Lenglet, Sessegnon, Bissouma, Sarr, Richarlison
