Wales Under-21s drop to second after Bulgaria draw

Wales Under-21s drop down to second place in their European Championship Under-21 qualifying group after drawing 0-0 in Bulgaria.

Wales Under-21s have fallen to second place in their U21 Euro 2017 qualifying group after only recording a goalless draw against Bulgaria.

Geraint Williams's side went into the fixture with a slender advantage over Denmark after avoiding defeat during their opening five games, but a sixth game without losing was not enough to retain their place at the top of the standings.

Wales had opportunities during the first half at the Beroe Stadium, but Ellis Harrison saw an effort blocked on the line and Tom O'Sullivan failed to make the most of an opening just before the break.

Bulgaria came more into the game during the second half, but both nations had to settle for a draw, with two points still separating the teams.

Denmark now top the group after a narrow 1-0 victory away in Luxembourg.
