Alan Irvine: 'West Bromwich Albion did not deserve to lose'

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine believes that the Baggies should have got something from their defeat at home to West Ham United on Tuesday.

West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine has bemoaned his side's 2-1 defeat at home to West Ham United, claiming that the hosts should have got something from the game.

Craig Dawson opened the scoring for the Baggies in the 10th minute, but the Hammers scored twice before the end of the first half to claim the lead and ultimately all three points.

Irvine told reporters after the game: "It's bitterly disappointing as we started the game pretty well and got ahead.

"We made a couple of mistakes and people started getting nervous. When the equaliser came, I felt we could deal with that at half time.

"But the second goal then made our job even harder. I thought the second half was very, very good and we deserved to get something out of that game."

West Brom are 16th in the Premier League following their defeat, just two points above the drop zone.
