Haas F1's former main sponsor has emerged victorious in a legal skirmish with the Formula 1 team, as determined by a Swiss arbitration court.
Uralkali, a prominent Russian fertilizer company, supported the likewise dismissed driver Nikita Mazepin's F1 adventure until geopolitical tensions stemming from the Russia-Ukraine conflict in early 2022 led to the termination of their sponsorship.
Seeking redress for the dissolved sponsorship agreement, the company pursued legal action in Switzerland, and on Thursday, the arbitration tribunal found in favor of Uralkali, deeming that Haas had wrongfully terminated the contract.
"The arbitration established the fact of breach of contract by the team and awarded compensation to Uralkali," declared Uralkali's press office.
"Haas was also denied all counterclaims against Uralkali."
Uralkali further stated, "The company expects Haas to promptly fulfil its obligations confirmed by the arbitration tribunal decision. The funds received are planned to be used for the development and modernisation of potash fertiliser production."
