Miguel Angel Jimenez has admitted that he is a "little" disappointed not to have been selected as the Europe captain for next year's Ryder Cup at Hazeltine in Minnesota.
Darren Clarke was named as the new captain on Wednesday after a five-man panel, including last year's skipper Paul McGinley, voted unanimously.
Despite being disappointed to miss out, Jimenez has insisted that he will fully support Clarke when the Irishman attempts to retain the title in the USA.
"Disappointing? A little bit," Jimenez told Sky Sports News. "I've been there so many years on the Tour. This is my 27th season, I've played seven Ryder Cups and been vice-captain. Of course I accept it.
"I think I've done a lot for the Tour through all these years and it's a little disappointing not being captain, but I feel happy on the other hand for Darren, because he will make a very good job.
"I will be behind you Darren, don't worry. All the decisions you're going to make for the Ryder Cup will be good and I'll be behind you."
Thomas Bjorn was also considered by the panel.
