Justin Thomas has become the new world number one, ending Dustin Johnson's 64-week streak at the top of the World Golf Rankings.
Johnson needed to finish in the top 10 at the Players Championship, but the American could only claim a share of 17th place as his stay at the top of the sport came to an end.
Thomas, meanwhile, finished the event in a tie for 11th and has now established a 0.25 lead at a time when his compatriot has a significant tally of ranking points to defend in the coming weeks.
England's Tommy Fleetwood is now ranked at 10th spot courtesy of finishing in seventh position, while Webb Simpson - who won the tournament at Sawgrass - has moved into the world's top 20.
Tiger Woods finished in a share of 11th at the 'fifth Major' and it has resulted in progress into 80th position in the standings.
