Jamie Donaldson carded a six-under-par 66 to claim a first-round lead in the Czech Masters tonight.
The Welshman shot eight birdies and two bogeys to move to the summit of the leaderboard, one stroke clear of Sweden's Mikael Lundberg.
Victory for Donaldson, who currently occupies the eighth of nine automatic Ryder Cup places, would significantly boost his prospect of a debut selection for Europe at Gleneagles next month.
Meanwhile, there is a 10-way tie in third place on four under, with England's Paul Waring, Kenneth Ferrie, Danny Willett, Lee Slattery and Matthew Nixon among them.
