Great Britain tumblers take women's team bronze at World Championships

Great Britain's women tumbling team take the bronze medal at the Trampoline World Championships, with Belgium finishing second and France scooping the gold.

Great Britain's women's tumbling team scooped the bronze medal at the 35th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The team of Ashleigh Owen, Megan Surman, Megan Kealy and Louisa Maher entered the final having qualified in first place and seeking to defend their world title from 2019.

Owen's pass saw the 18-year-old perform a double-twisting double back somersault dismount, posting a score of 30.800 after landing with her chest slightly down.

Surman followed with a double straight transition into a full-twisting double pike, but after taking a step off the landing mat, the 23-year-old recorded a total of 33.200.

Kealy - the sole member of the gold medal-winning 2019 team to compete in Baku after Shanice Davidson's injury - completed the same pass as Surman but with better execution to post 34.100, although it was not enough to see GB finish atop the podium again.

Great Britain finished with a total score of 98.100, finishing just 0.300 behind second-placed Belgium, while France stormed to the gold with a team total of 99.400.

The Russian Gymnastics Federation - who took silver in 2019 - were forced to settle for fourth with 97.600, with the United States down in fifth spot after totalling 93.200.

In the men's double mini final, Great Britain finished fifth, with Spain taking the bronze medal, Portugal claiming a silver while the RGF - led by 10-time world champion Mikhail Zalomin - successfully defended their world title.
