Liverpool apply to trademark Jurgen Klopp's 'The Normal One' phrase

Liverpool reportedly apply to have Jurgen Klopp's 'The Normal One' tag trademarked across Europe.

Liverpool have reportedly applied to have 'The Normal One' trademarked after the phrase was adopted by manager Jurgen Klopp.

The German coach described himself as "normal" during his first press conference after taking over from Brendan Rodgers as manager in October.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss was reminded of Jose Mourinho's arrival in the Premier League in 2004 when he described himself as the "special one" after taking over at Chelsea for the first time.

Klopp told reporters: "I don't describe myself. Does anyone in this room think I can do wonders? Let me work. I am the normal one."

Since then, the phrase has been used by Liverpool on various merchandise, including T-shirts and caps, and the club have now applied to have 'The Normal One' trademarked in the UK and Europe, according to The Telegraph.

The club want to have exclusive use of the phrase on future merchandise.
