Pep Guardiola is fined £20,000 by the Football Association and warned about his future conduct for continuing to wear a yellow ribbon during and after Man City games.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been fined £20,000 for wearing a yellow ribbon after accepting a Football Association charge.

The 47-year-old was accused of breaching the governing body's kit and advertising regulations, leading to controversial comments from FA chairman Martin Glenn.

Guardiola defended his decision to sport the ribbon since November, in a show of support for jailed pro-independence Catalan politicians in his homeland.

FA chiefs have taken the decision to fine the former Barcelona boss, though, while also warning him about his future conduct after failing to heed two previous formal warnings.

Speaking last week, Guardiola vowed to continue wearing the ribbon despite the impending charge.
