Sonatane Takulua "delighted" to complete Newcastle Falcons switch

Tonga international scrum-half Sonatane Takulua joins Newcastle Falcons from New Zealand-based ITM Cup side Northland.

Tonga international Sonatane Takulua has joined Newcastle Falcons on a deal that will keep him at Kingston Park until the end of next season.

The 24-year-old scrum-half, who earned the last of his five international caps against Scotland in November last year, will provide cover for Mike Blair and Ruki Tipuna.

Speaking to his new club's official site, Tipuna said: "I'm looking forward to learning and sharing skills. I can't wait to get on the field.

"My dream of playing full-time rugby is finally coming true. It's been a lot of hard work and sacrifice but I'm delighted to be at Newcastle."

Tipuna joins the Falcons from New Zealand-based ITM Cup side Northland.
