Kevin Anderson battles into Miami Masters third round by beating Sam Querrey

Kevin Anderson grabs a place in the third round of the Miami Masters after being pushed to three sets by Sam Querrey.

Kevin Anderson has snatched a place in the third round of the Miami Masters by battling past Sam Querrey 6-7(5) 7-6(3) 6-4.

Nothing could separate the two competitors in the first set, as both were strong on serve, meaning that a tie-break was required.

Querrey just edged the decider 7-5, and he tried to keep the momentum in his direction following a brief rain delay by grabbing the first break of the second set.

Anderson bounced back to take his opponent's serve, but Querrey earned a crucial break point in the 11th game to go 6-5 up.

The American pro squandered the chance to serve for the match, and another tie-break was needed, but Anderson edged it to draw level on sets.

The South African continued to dominate in the third set by going a break up instantly, and that was enough to seal victory.
