British number one Andy Murray has revealed that he felt "emotional" after picking up his first Grand Slam title at the US Open last night.
The 25-year-old Scotsman was able to overcome Novak Djokovic in five sets to become the first Brit in 76 years to win a Grand Slam final.
"When I realised I had won I was very shocked, relieved and emotional for a few minutes afterwards," Andy Murray told BBC Sport.
"It means the world to me. It's what I've been working towards for definitely the last 10 years of my life. Following the disappointment of the Wimbledon final a few months ago, to come back in the next Grand Slam is unbelievable."
Meanwhile, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who was at Flushing Meadows to cheer on the Scotsman, has claimed that he is "proud" of Murray's achievements.
