Kaya Turski crashes out of slopestyle

Canada skier and current world champion Kaya Turski crashes out of the Olympic freestyle skiing slopestyle competition in qualifying on Tuesday.

Canada skier and current world champion Kaya Turski has crashed out of the Olympic freestyle skiing slopestyle competition in qualifying on Tuesday, after falling over on both of her runs at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.

A seven-time X-Games champion in the event, the 25-year-old fell heavily on her first run and was unable to make amends on her second attempt, failing to nail a jump and crashing skis first into the snow.

Fellow Canadians Dara Howell and Kim Lamarre topped the leaderboard with scores of 88.80 and 85.4 respectively, ahead of Great Britain's Katie Summerhayes.

Germany World Cup leader Lisa Zimmermann also failed to progress in today's qualifying rounds at the Sochi Games.
