American Meryl Davis has stated that she feels like she is in a dream, following her and her teammate Charlie White's overnight lead at the 2014 Sochi Games' figure skating competition.
Davis and White head the standings with a score of 78.89 after the short dance program, 2.5 points ahead of the Canadian pair of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir going into tomorrow's free dance.
The 27-year-old told USA Today: "I was telling Charlie in the middle of the program, I just felt like I was in a dream. It's such a surreal experience."
Her teammate added: "We're focused on the moment and task at hand. We're not looking at the future or the color of medals.
"We had a really great start to this event, and we'll treat it just like every other event and that's going out to compete just like we've practiced."
Virtue and Moir are the reigning Olympic champions, while Team GB pair Nicholas Buckland and Penny Coomes sit in 11th position.
