Matt Ryan has injured his left shoulder during the Atlanta Falcons' loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.
The Falcons quarterback is understood to have sustained a separation in his left shoulder towards the end of the fourth quarter of Sunday's game.
The 27-year-old played one snap after picking up the knock to his non-throwing arm.
NFL.com reports that the injury will not need surgery, and that he would have been able to play in the Super Bowl had the Falcons won the game.
