Phil Emery hails Brandon Marshall "growth"

Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery hails the "growth" that wide receiver Brandon Marshall has shown since joining the franchise.

Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery has praised wide receiver Brandon Marshall for the "growth" that he has shown since joining the franchise.

Marshall joined the Bears from the Miami Dolphins before the 2012 campaign and has since gone on to reach the Pro Bowl in both of his seasons in Chicago.

The 30-year-old recently agreed a new three-year deal with the team, and Emery expressed his pride at seeing him commit his immediate future to the Bears.

"This is a man that's grown every day. Every time we have a conversation and engage each other, I just see growth as a person," Emery is quoted as saying by ESPN.

"I see a very thoughtful, engaging, giving person, somebody that reaches out to others. And through reaching out to others, [he] has grown himself. We're very proud he's continued to remain a Bear and looking forward to the now and into the future."

Meanwhile, Marshall has expressed his desire to play for another six years in order to top Cris Carter's statistics in the NFL.
